God Chose to Sacrifice Jesus - His Only Son

• God sent Jesus to die on the cross, to die for our sins, so that we might be reconciled with Him.

• Truth: You don’t purposely sacrifice someone dear to you to help people unless you really, really care about them.

Bible Verses Pointing to God’s Goodness in Sending Jesus to the Cross

• John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

• Romans 5:8: “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

• You are loved more than you will ever know by someone who died to know you. (Ref. Romans 5:8)

• 1 John 4:19: “We love because he first loved us.” 

• John 15:13: “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.”

• Note: Later on in John 15, Jesus calls us “friends.”
