Resource #1: Remembering the Biblical Truth that We Have an Active Enemy
It’s important that we keep in mind that, in addition to living in a fallen and sinful world, there is an active enemy - Satan - who wants to kill, steal, and destroy (John 10:10).
And that includes:
Our relationship with God. (Satan often plants lies and misinformation about who God is and what He wants.)
Being the woman God created us to be.
Stepping into the calling God has for us, thereby impacting other people and His kingdom here on earth.
This has been exceedingly true in my life - from my early childhood to today.
In fact, ever since I’ve started making God-led changes to His mission (which is how He refers to my business), I’ve experienced resistance from the enemy.
This has included a recent incident where a resident in my complex accidentally discharged their firearm while cleaning it, sending a bullet through my balcony railing and into the wall of my apartment. (Though I was sitting in the vicinity at the time, God protected me from harm by inexplicably causing the bullet to go backwards, out of the wall.)
Satan has been trying to take me off the board of life since I was a young child:
I grew up with a highly abusive father.
Satan kept my childhood very dark, not allowing any source of light or hope, thereby causing depression, hopelessness, and suicidal thoughts. And a belief that I had no value.
My testimony (aka the story of when I gave my heart to Jesus in my early 20s) is full of spiritual warfare and included God informing me that the so-called helpful spirit that I had been sensing, and that a friend of my ex-husband’s had said was a friendly spirit, was actually a demon that was sent to kill me.
Other close calls regarding my safety - with at least one situation where I could sense the enemy’s desire to have me fall or be pushed off of a cliff. Yet I also sense God holding back the evil forces to keep me safe.
Note: I’m currently working on a book, set to be released in late 2025, that shares my complete story in more detail. If you’d like to be notified as soon as it’s released, sign-up for my email list at: https://bit.ly/GodLovesMeEmail
In short, I very much understand - from personal experience - spiritual warfare and the very real fact that we have an enemy that does not want us to be who we’re meant to be in God.
And unfortunately, spiritual warfare is not something a lot of churches talk about.
Yet, when you’re learning about who God really is, it’s important that we remember that there is an active agent who is doing everything he can to keep you broken, bruised, and convinced that you’re weak and don’t matter. And that God is harsh, mean, abusive, and doesn’t care about you.
Twisting God’s character, and what His words, is one of the oldest tricks in the book going back to the fall in Genesis.
When the serpent talked to Eve, he approached her in a way where he was causing her to question (aka doubt) what God said (and therefore who He was).
This makes it extremely important to have legit biblical teaching on a consistent basis, which brings me to Resource #2.
